Your documents
Files you upload and the files we produce are stored only to run your conversion and let you download the result. They are deleted automatically after 2 hours, or immediately when you click “Delete from server”. We do not read them, share them or use them to train anything.
The online service only reads the files you upload: references to other files on the server are ignored.
PDF enhanced recognition (optional)
When you upload a PDF, it is read on this site's server only and is not sent to anyone else.
Only if you tick “Enhanced recognition” before converting is the PDF (at most its first 60 pages, up to 20 pages per request) sent to SoMark's free document recognition service — free-oxr.somark.cn for visitors in mainland China, its mirror free-oxr.somark.ai elsewhere (the other one if the first can't be reached) — to read scanned pages, equations and tables. The result is used only for this conversion. SoMark is an independent third party and is responsible for how it stores and processes files; once a file has been sent there, we cannot delete it for you. Don't tick it for sensitive documents.
The same applies to the HTTP API: the PDF is sent to SoMark only when the request explicitly says "pdf_ocr": true.
Usage statistics
To improve the service we count page visits and conversions: date, interface language, country (from the network), the referring website, device type, document type, style, duration and whether it worked. Visitors are counted with a salted one-way hash of the network address; the address itself is not stored. Records are kept for 180 days.
Feedback
If you send feedback, we store your message, the optional email address you give, the page, language and the error code it refers to — so we can answer and fix things. We do not use your email for anything else.
Cookies and tracking
No cookies, no advertising, no third-party analytics or fonts. Your language and style choices are remembered in your own browser only.
